Learning to Love You More by Miranda July

This past weekend I stumbled upon a really great book at Family in Melrose. It's called "Learning to Love You More" by Miranda July. It's made up of responses to 68 different and inspirational assignments. The assignments are things like photograph a memorable or significant outfit, take a picture of your parents kissing, write the conversation you wish you could have, reread your favorite book from 5th grade, etc... You can get the complete list of assignments here and do them yourself, I recommend it and hope to start on them too.


The book is pretty awesome. July compiles the best of the best photographs, poems, and stories submitted by people from all over the world. Some of the submissions will send chills up and down your back or make you smile, cry, laugh - feel - period.

Cinespia

If you love summer evenings, I have the perfect venue for you : Cinespia at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. On Saturdays and Sundays a classic movie (often black and white) is put on and hundreds gather with favorite treats and wine to watch and kick back.


It gets a bit crowded so you should get there early and plan on being there for a while before the movie starts. People play games, listen to music, and snack while waiting. Tons of fun, $10 to get in, go!

Office Romance

There's nothing sweeter than watching two of your co workers fall in love... especially when it's with EACH OTHER. We all felt there was something going on between this project manager and developer but that night really confirmed everything. 

Mannabell came dressed in a fashionably "her" pink tee and Adam came in his finest "his" blue. We were lucky enough to catch them in this candid shot as they looked lovingly into each other's eyes. Yes, this photo was slightly embellished to add to the romance of it all. However, aside from the rose, heart, and pink shoes, everything you see here is real, especially the Adam-Mannabell love.

Croquet Champs!

This past weekend, I discovered there is no greater satisfaction than in winning a croquet game, especially when it takes over 2 hours to play. As day became dusk and then night, I cheered, yelled, almost killed and wacked my good partner Adam into a final stroke of victory.

I think what made the win even more amazing is that we were playing Paul and Mariam. Mariam was the voice of strategy, clear reason and calm throughout the game while Paul was THE expert croquet shooter.

Cheers to croquet and I'm looking forward to a rematch at our $500k party!

Oh yeah, and the only drawback is that Mr. Paparatzo, while capturing all of our "about to eat faces" perfectly, failed to capture the glorious seconds after victory. This picture is really the minute after victory. After the winning stroke, I was towering in the air as Adam laughed with glee. NICE ONE MANNY.

Close of June at $400K!!!

So on Monday afternoon, after our Weekly Meeting, Yoana comes up to me and shows me the depressing and seemingly impossible figure we have to make up to reach $400K : $35,600 and some change. Our best day that month had been somewhere around $20,000.

For some reason, the number staring at me on her little office depot calculator didn't seem that large. In fact, I thought of it as only 3 $10k deals. No biggie. John looked at me and said, if you can do it, it'd be some kind of miracle.

Well...whaddaya know, with the combined forces of our team, we reached $400k and beyond! Amazing. Monday was an awesome day and now Thursday is going to be even better. We are having a BBQ/rock band/beer pong/bar hopping/pool party and we don't even need to sober up cause the next day is the 4th!
